Gynecomastia is the term for an abnormal but benign growth in the amount of breast tissue in men due to an imbalance of estrogen and testosterone hormones. Gynecomastia can affect one breast in some cases and both breasts in other cases. Both breasts can be affected irregularly and reach different sizes. Newborns, teens, and older men can develop gynecomastia due to normal changes in hormone levels. However, there are other reasons for developing gynecomastia as well. Gynecomastia is not a serious problem in many cases, but managing this condition can be difficult for individuals. Men with gynecomastia have been observed to experience pain in their breasts. In some cases one can see that the individual is ashamed of the situation. Depending on the cause of gynecomastia, it may heal spontaneously in some patients, and some patients may require treatment with drugs or surgery.
It is appropriate to wait 2 years before undertaking an intervention in those observed during adolescence and if there is no regression in this period it is appropriate to intervene.
Breasts are divided according to their size. Although the procedure to be performed varies by size, in the most common cases, VASER liposuction is performed through one or two small incisions. If the breasts are too large, breast tissue and skin must also be removed. Usually no drains are used.
This procedure can be performed under general anesthesia.
A bruise can be seen as a complication. However, if done correctly, there are not many problems.
